The Candidate of the African Democratic Congress, ADC, in the Edo State September Twenty-First Governorship Election Mr Derek Izedonmwen has strongly condemned Thursday’s Violent Attacks allegedly by Opponents on private cabs displaying his campaign posters and stickers along Airport Road in Benin City.
Mr Derek Izedonmwen in a statement he personally signed noted that the Vehicleswe damaged by armed thugs associated with his Opponents while the driver was severely beaten.
The ADC Governorship Candidate also drew the attention of Government and security agencies to a separate, tragic incident along the same Airport Road where the alleged armed supporters of the opposition clashed violently with a convoy of the Edo APC gubernatorial candidate Mr Monday Okpebholo and others, resulting in the loss of life and several injuries.
He said the senseless violence is a grave assault on the Nation’s democratic principles and the peace of Edo State.
Mr Derek Izedonmwen requests that as the Chief Security Officer of Edo State, the Governor Mr Godwin Obaseki must immediately intervene and ensure the safety and security of all citizens, irrespective of their political affiliations.
He extended his deepest sympathies and gratitude to Edo voters and supporters of the ADC, for their unwavering support despite the challenges adding that their courage and commitment to change inspire him and others to continue the campaign with even greater resolve while they stand with the People and promise to uphold the dignity and honour of the beloved state.
