The Edo State People’s Democratic Party, PDP Concerned Citizens, had insisted that the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, has for the second time, denied them access to inspect the BVAS machines, following the outcome of the September twenty first 2024 gubernatorial election

Recall that on Monday October 9, the candidate of the PDP Dr. Asue Ighodalo and his team had raised the alarm that in contravention of a court order, they were being denied access to BVAS.

The PDP and Dr. Ighodalo today again raised the alarm that despite a press statement by the resident electoral Commissioner for Edo State to the contrary, the party and it’s team of experts, are being prevented from accessing the BVAS by Suspected thugs belonging to opposition Party who were allowed access into the INEC office.

In a statement signed by its chieftain, Omokhodion Osas, the Party expressed their concerns alleging a ploy between the electoral umpire and some opposition forces to prevent them from having access to the information they seek before the expiration of the time to file legal action on Saturday.

According to the statement, “In spite of the news from the INEC’s Resident Electoral Commission, REC, that INEC has allowed PDP to inspect the materials, top officials of the major opposition party and their suspected Thugs are in the INEC office denying PDP access to inspect the materials on Wednesday .

The statement said it was clear that the Independent Electoral Commission, INEC, the main opposition Party in connivance with Security Agencies are subverting the will of the people of Edo state, expressing worry that the electoral umpire is still hell-bent on preventing the People’s Democratic Party, PDP, from accessing the BVAS.

The statement alleged that the credibility of the 2027 elections is not guaranteed with these kinds of actions being displayed by INEC, adding that the leadership of INEC and other stakeholders cannot be trusted.
