Edo State Police Command says it has arrested eight persons in connection with the protracted crisis in Obazagbon community in Oredo Local Government Area over who becomes or remains the Okaighele of the community, which has claimed many lives.

According to a statement by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, CSP Moses Joel Yamu, the Divisional Police Officer of Iyekogba Division led Operatives of the “Operation Rescue” and Anti-Kidnapping to the area where the suspects were arrested.

The suspects are Obayuwana Happy, Uhunwangho Everest, Chidera Umeh, Joshua Edo, Simon Benjamin, and Odion Adagbonyin.

Others arrested are Kennedy Ohro and Osayi Adagbonyin, who are said to have actively participated in the mayhem that has been rocking the community.

The statement said some innocent persons, including a hearing impaired person, Efe, were killed and destruction of property worth millions of Naira occurred.

The Commissioner of Police, Betty Enekpen Isokpan Otimenyin, vowed that all those found culpable would be made to face the full wrath of the law, as she reiterates the Command’s resolve to ensure that the safety of lives and properties remains paramount in the State.
