The Edo State Governorship Candidate of the African Democratic Congress, Engineer Osarenren Derek Izedomwen has felicitated with Nigerians as the Nation commemorates its Twenty fifth Democracy Day.

In a statement, the ADC Governorship Candidate celebrated the strides Nigeria has recorded since the dawn of the Fourth Republic in 1999.

He said Democracy Day marks a significant transition from the dark days of military rule to a democratic dispensation which echoes the will of the people despite the challenges and imperfections that have been recorded over the years.

The ADC Flagbearer in the forthcoming Edo State Governorship Election, Engineer Derek Izedonmwen while paying glowing tributes to pro-democracy activists whose unwavering commitment and significant sacrifices were instrumental in restoring the Nation’s Democracy, said it is the solemn duty of Nigerians to ensure that their labour was not in vain.

Engineer Izedonmwen emphasised that Democracy, despite some challenges associated with it, remains the best form of government for expressing the aspirations of the citizens.

He urged Nigerians to conduct themselves with decorum and refrain from inflammatory rhetoric that could destabilize the Nation.

The ADC Governorship Candidate also used the occasion to salute Nigeria’s founding fathers, who not only dreamed of an independent Nation with diverse languages but united under one flag.

He maintained that their enduring spirit should inspire today’s politicians to eschew self-serving governance and instead strive to enhance Nation’s polity through dedication and selfless service.
