The Elders and other people of Eghudu Community Ovia North East Local Government Area, Edo State have made passionate appeals to the good people of the state, governor of Edo State Mr. Godwin Obaseki as well as His Royal Majesty Oba Ewuare II to prevail on the Second in Command in the Community otherwise known as Ogiukpongieva to stop parading himself as the Odionwere as well as performing his functions.
The Elders from Eghudu Community Ovia North East Local Government Area who made the public appeals include Elder Monday Osazenaye, Igbinedion Oviawe, Samuel Odiase, Victor Oviawe Arigor ThankGod Uwaila, and Elder Friday Uwaila.
The Elders observed that after the death of the Odionwere of the Community a year ago, the smooth running of the day-to-day activity has now assumed difficulties with the second in command or Ozukpogieva. Pa. Stephen Oviawe taking charge.
They said to their Chargrin Pa Steven Oviawe immediately put his expenses and that of his immediate family members on the community’s account and single-handedly selected and appointed persons who are at his beck and call to run the affairs of the Community particularly illegal sales of the Community’s Land.
The Elders of Eghudu Community said they have tried severally to amicably resolve the issues with Pa Steven and make him change his attitude but he will not succumb adding that in one of such reconciliatory meetings to iron out their differences he single-handedly announced the changing of the officials of the community without due consultation with the Village Elders in Council.
The Elders of Eghudu Community say that they have consequently disassociated themselves from the said Pa Stephen Oviawe following his misconduct, and illegal activities and also use the opportunity to advise members of the public
to avoid any transactions regarding affairs of the Community with him as he is not the Odionwere adding that Anyone who does so is at his or her own risk.
When Contacted for comments Pa Steven Oviawe confirmed that he is the Ozukpongieva or the second in command at Eghudu Community but that with the absence of an Odionwere he becomes the Acting Odionwere.
