A former Foreign Affairs Minister and Elder Statesman, Chief Tom Ikimi, the Oduma of Esan land has congratulated the Esama of Benin and Honourary Romanian Consul to Edo and Delta States of Nigeria, His Excellency, Sir, Chief Doctor Gabriel Osawaru Igbinedíon on the auspicious occasion of his Ninetieth birthday.
Chief Ikimi in a congratulatory message showered encomiums on the Esama of Benin for the key and stabilising role he consistently played in the creation of Edo State.
Chief Ikimi, who is also the Inneh of Igueben and Akinrogun of Ife recalled with nostalgia how the Esama of Benin over fifty years ago registered his presence at the lobby of the Public Service Commission ever ready to present an appropriate car from his premier company, Mid-Motors Nigeria Limited to the successful candidates at the most considerable conditions.
The former Foreign Affairs Minister, Chief Ikimi recalls the unparalleled contributions of the Esama of Benin to the political landscape in Nigeria, saying he was one of the backbones behind the establishment of Liberal Convention Movement in1988 and one of the most powerful foundation members of the defunct of National Republican Convention, a political party.
