The newly built council secretariat at Isiokpo in the Ikwerre Local Government area was this Morning set ablaze by yet unidentified Persons
Although Police authorities have not commented on the incident and the extent of damage is still unclear.
The incident comes two days after the election in Rivers State
This followed the withdrawal of the police officers securing the 23 council secretariats by the commissioner of police.
Elsewhere, A section of the Eleme Local Government Council secretariat has been set ablaze.
It was gathered that the newly elected chairman Brain Gokpa came to the council secretariat accompanied by his councilors and supporters only to discover that parts of the buildings in the council had been set ablaze.
Workers of the secretariat gathered in clusters discussing what could have given rise to the fire.
Although details are still sketchy, the incident comes just days after the Rivers Local Government Elections which were swept by the Action Peoples Party (APP).
The police are yet to release any statement on the situation.There is a palpable fear of a potential outbreak of violence in some councils of the state.
