Governor of Kano State Abba Yusuf, has sworn in the 44 newly elected local government chairmen, urging them to manage their resources prudently and fast-track grassroots development.
The chairmen, all from the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP), won all the seats in Saturday’s election conducted by the Kano State Independent Electoral Commission KANSIEC.
Yusuf emphasised the importance of prudence in governance to achieve the desired objectives of providing democracy dividends at the grassroots level.

The Kano State Independent Electoral Commission earlier issued certificates of return to the newly elected 44 Local Government Chairmen across the state.
The certificates were issued by the Chairman Kano State Independent Electoral Commission Professor Sani Malumfashi.
Malumfashi noted that the commission has the mandate to issue the certificates and urged the newly elected LG chairmen and councillors to discharge their duties effectively.
Malumfashi while issuing the certificates said the new Chairmen of Local Government Councils are now charged with the responsibility of attending to the official needs of their respective Areas.
