According to a statement by the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Mr. Fred Itua, Governor Okpebholo will inaugurate the committee on Tuesday, November 26, 2024, at the Government House in Benin City.

The statement lists the members of the committee as follows: Dr. Ernest Afolabi Umakhihe (Chairman), Anslem Ojezua (Deputy Chairman), and Mr. Frank Osumuede Edebor (Secretary).

Other members include Prince Kassim Afegbua, Barrister Patrick Ikhariale, Mr. Taiwo Akerele, Patrick Idiake, Rasaq Bello-Osagie, Fredrick Unopah, Mrs. Abdallah Eugenia, Barrister Patrick Obahiagbon, Pharmacist Kenny Okojie, Mrs. Lyndsey Tes-Sorae, and Abass Braimoh.

The statement emphasizes that the establishment of the Assets Verification Committee aligns with the Governor’s initiative to promote accountable leadership in the state. It also notes that despite numerous requests for a comprehensive database of the assets and liabilities of the previous administration, the immediate past government provided only limited data on these matters.

In line with his campaign promises to ensure transparency in governance, the Governor has constituted a committee comprised of respected individuals from Edo State.
