Elders, Ohen and indigenes of Ayen community in Uhunmwonde local government area, Edo State have dissociated themselves from a media report saying a new Okhaighele has been installed.
In a statement signed by the second in command, Paul Abumenre , the ohen Enoruwa Victor Ada and three other elders say the act was carried out contrary to the directive of the palace of the Oba of Benin which says every activity should be put on hold till next week when a decision is reached for preparation for a new Odionwere to replace the last one who died recently.
The statement expressed disappointment that some persons hurriedly carried out installation of another Okhaighele when there was still an existing one
According to the statement, for the benefit of doubt, the Odionwere and the elders in council are incharge of installing a new Okhaighele and since the last Odionwere that died recently had Okhaighele that his still functioning then no one is recognised.
The statement however said the public should disregard shenanigan that was said to have been done in the media saying it was illegal, unacceptable and cannot stand in all ramifications as the purported Okhaighele has passed the stage since he is already a member of the Edion.
