The Independent National Electoral Commission has published its final list of candidates seeking to contest the Edo governorship election in September.
In a statement on Monday, INEC’s commissioner for information and voter education, Sam Olumekun said seventeen political parties have presented candidates seeking to succeed incumbent Governo, Godwin Obaseki.
Olumekun said of the seventeen candidates, sixteen are male while one is female, Patience Ndidi of the Peoples Redemption Party.
The final list, which also gives the breakdown of the candidates by age, academic qualifications and disability, was published at INEC office in Edo State and also uploaded to INEC website and social media platforms.
According to the statement, with the publication of the final list of candidates for the Edo State Governorship Election, the next activity is electioneering campaigns by Political Parties in public which commences on Wednesday 24th April, 2024 to end at midnight on Thursday Nineteenth September 2024.
