INEC has approved the final register of voters for the Edo and Ondo Governorship elections.
The register integrated new voters from the recent Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) as well as the figures of successful applicants for transfer from other States of the Federation to the two States.
According to the commission, Edo State now has two million six hundred and twenty nine thousand and twenty five registered voters.
Of this figure, one million three hundred and seventy thousand and sixty one representing fifty two point eleven percent are male while one million,two hundred and fifty eight thousand, nine hundred and sixty four representing forty seven point eight nine percent are female.
Youths from 18 – 35 years account for nine hundred and eighty three thousand, one hundred and thirty three representing thirty seven point four percent, followed by 914,806 middle aged between (36 – 49 years .
The total figure constitute 1,897,939 (72.2%) of registered voters in the State.
The new register represents 4.90 increase over the 2023 General Election figure of two million, five hundred and one thousand and eighty one.
Ahead of the gubernatorial election in Ondo, the State now has two million and fifty three thousand and sixty one registered voters.
