On the 27th March, 1997 Independent Television started transmission of programmes on Channel 22 with its slogan – Certainly the Best, the station radically changed the horizon of broadcasting in its coverage area.

In this special report, some personalities have commended the founder of the first private television in the country His Excellency Sir Chief Dr Gabriel Osawaru Igbinedion CFR the Esama of Benin for his pioneering effort and immense contribution to the development of the private media broadcast.
