Men of the Edo State Police Command have rescued the Onojie of Udo-Eguare, His Royal Highness Friday Ehizojie, who was kidnapped on the third of February, 2025.

The command’s Public Relations Officer, CSP Moses Yamu, in a statement on Saturday, in Benin City, said the rescue operation took place on Friday at about 6 pm.

He explained that the rescue was made possible through sustained police efforts, supported by the Edo State Government, vigilantes, hunters, and other well-meaning residents of the state.

CSP Yamu said the State Commissioner of Police, Betty Otimenyin, had vowed to rescue the kidnapped traditional ruler, and her team worked tirelessly to keep that promise.

He said the command thanked the state government and attributed the success to the logistic support rendered by the governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo.

CSP Yamu reiterated that the command’s commitment to the fight against crime remains unshaken.
