Eleven out of thirteen Councillors of the Legislative Arm of Ovia North East Local Government Area, Edo State have dissociated themselves from the alleged impeachment of the Executive Chairman of the Council, Mr. Collins Ogbewe
In a statement jointly signed by the Eleven Councillors, namely, Friday Efionayi Representing Okada West Ward One, Aigheyisi Ogido Paul Representing Okada East Ward Two, Ekhator Kelvin Representing Uhen Ward Three, Ighodalo Stanley Representing Adolor Ward Four, Igbinovia Harrison Represnting Ofumwegbe Ward Five and Eke Eugene Representing Uhiere Ward Seven.
Others are Ikponmwonsa Monday Representing Isiuwa Ward Eight, Oluwafemi Uyi Ojo Representing Okhokhuo Ward Nine, Regele Francess Representing Oghede Ward Ten, Aimufua Monday Representing Oduna Ward Eleven and Nogheghase Johnson Representing Igueoshodin Ward Twelve said the alleged Impeachment of the Executive Chairman of Ovia North East Local Government, Collins Ogbewe cannot stand as the two Councillors who include the Former House leader, Omoruyi Igbinake and Ahmed Asemota who carried out the Impeachment had earlier been Impeached and suspended by the Eleven Councillors.
The Statement explained that at plenary presided over by the Deputy House Leader, Monday Aimufua in a motion moved by the Councillor representing Adolor Ward Four, Stanley Ighodaro and seconded by the Councillor Representing Okada West Ward Impeached the House Leader, Omoruyi Igbinake and Ahmed Asemota and unanimously Elected the Councillor Represnting Okohkhuo Ward Oluwafemi Uyi Ojo as the New House Leader.
The Councillors urged the public and the people of Ovia North East Local Government Area, not to transact business with any person or group of persons acting on behalf of the duly elected Executive Chairman of the Council, Collins Ogbewe.
