Voting has commenced in some polling centres for the local government election in Rivers State, as sensitive materials have been distributed.
Accreditation and voting began at Ikoku area, Port Harcourt City at around eight a.m.
Some of the voters said they decided to cast their votes in the local government election as a way of exercising their civic responsibility.
They expressed belief that the candidates of their choice will emerge victorious at the end of the exercise.
They commended the Rivers State Independent Electoral Commission for putting the exercise together in order to have democratically elected persons at the local government areas in the state.
