In the English Premier League, Manchester City’s poor form continued as they fell to a two goals to one defeat against Aston Villa.

The tone was set inside the first minute as City needed Stefan Ortega to bail them out as he brilliantly turned Pau Torres’ header to the crossbar.

Goals from Jhon Duran and Morgan Rogers in either half meant Phil Foden’s late reply for the visitors was little consolation.

Defending champions City have dropped to sixth in the Premier League, nine points behind leaders Liverpool and it is now nine defeats in twelve games across all competitions for City, who are winless in their last eight away matches.

In other games, Alexander Isak scored a hat-trick as Newcastle United thrashed Ipswich Town four nil, Goals from Ola Aina and Anthony Elanga helped Nottingham Forest inflict a first home defeat of the season on Brentford while Brighton and West Ham United settled for a one all draw.
