Medical and Dental Consultants’ Association of Nigeria, Edo State Hospital Management Agency, MDCAN-ESHMA, says it is not participating in the strike called by the National body of the Medical and Dental Consultants’ Association of Nigeria.
MDCAN-ESHMA in a communique issued at the end of an emergency ordinary general meeting, signed by the Chairman, Dr. Clement Ikponmwen and Secretary, Dr. Osaronse Aghimien Anthony says the reasons that led to the declaration of the warning strike were germane and needed urgent attention from the government in order to avert it.
The statement said despite risking sanctions from the national body for not participating in the strike, it decided not to participate in the strike as Edo State government just had a change in leadership and would need some time to settle down and under-study the health care sector.
According to the statement, the Commissioner of Health, has already reached out to the association and expressed willing to ensure that the issues raised are quickly sorted out.
MDCAN-ESHMA said the association is paying a huge sacrifice for not joining the strike as issued by the national body and expects the government to reciprocate by addressing the concerns of their members.
Medical and Dental Consultants’ Association of Nigeria, Edo State Hospital Management Agency said as critical stakeholders in the health sector, they are willing to continue to collaborate with the government in promoting the healthcare sector in Edo State, especially secondary health care.
