Academic and non-academic activities at Lagos State University of Education (LASUED), Ijanikin, were disrupted this morning as the Non-Academic Staff Union (NASU) declared an indefinite strike yesterday.

The strike follows the Lagos State government and university administration’s failure to meet the union’s longstanding demands despite extensive negotiations.

NASU/LASUED Chairman and Secretary, Badmus Adesola and Adelakun Segun, stated that members can no longer bear the financial strain caused by unpaid allowances and stagnant wages.

Key demands include the immediate payment of 72 months of hazard and transport allowance arrears, pending since January 2013, and a 25-35% salary increase to address the rising cost of living.
