The Nigeria Labour Congress has rejected the new increase in petrol pump price, saying it will further deepen poverty in the country.
NLC President, Joe Ajaero, said in a statement that the new price regime will further deepen poverty as production capacities dip, and more jobs lost with multidimensional negative effects.
Ajaero urged the government to immediately reverse the rate hike as previous increases did not produce any good results as people only got poorer.
He said more fundamentally, the government should be bold enough to tell Nigerians in advance the destination it wants to take the country as its present policies are sinking Nigerians into deeper into poverty and lack,
