Oil Theft: Navy Destroys Several Illegal Refining Sites, Recovers Stolen Crude Oil In 3 Weeks

The Nigerian Navy Has Said It Anti-Oil Theft Operations In The South-South And South West Part Of The Country Has Led To The Destruction Of Several Illegal Refining Sites And Seizures Of Million Litres Petroleum Products.
A Press Statement Signed By The Director Information Nigerian Navy, Commodore Aiwuyor Adams-Aliu Nozed That The Sustained Gains So Far Made By The Operation DELTA SANITY, Was Launched In January 2024 By The Chief Of Naval Staff, Vice Admiral Emmanuel Ikechukwu Ogalla To Tackle The Menace Of Crude Oil Theft In View Of Ramping Up Oil Production.
According To The Statement, On 14 August 2024 The Operation Led To The Destruction Of 3 Illegal Refinery Sites, 5 Refining Ovens, 3 Wooden Boats And Recovery Of Large Quantities Of Illegally Refined Automotive Gas Oil In The Creeks Of Bayelsa State.

Commodore Adams-Aliu Said On The 17 August 2024, The Operation Witnessed The Destruction Of Illegal Refinery Site With A 2 Million Litres Per Day Capacity In Rivers State And Several Others.

The Statement Said The Nigerian Navy Will Continue To Sustain Current Efforts To Rid Nigeria’s Maritime Environment Of The Menace And Enhance Crude Oil In Line With The Directive By President Bola Tinubu.
