The Okao of Unuame, in Ovia North-East Local Government Area of Edo State,
Kingsley Nogheghase Igbinosa has insisted that he is the Right Occupant and Head of the Community as duly recognized through inheritance and installed by His Royal Majesty, Ewuare the Second, Oba of Benin and officially documented and validated in Gazette Number 16 of the Bendel State Traditional Rulers and Chiefs Edict of 1979.
Okao Kingsley Nogheghase Igbinosa in a statement he personally signed denounced a recent publication where some Individuals falsely claimed that the traditional stool of the Okao of Unuamen was vacant and that no individual had been presented to His Royal Majesty, Oba Ewuare the Second for installation.
Okao Kingsley Nogheghase Igbinosa said said he was duly approved by His Royal Majesty, Oba Ewuare the second in February 2017, and subsequently installed in April 2017 as the legitimate Traditional Head of the Unuamen Community.
He said the libellous claim, which they circulated widely in print and electronic media, is untrue.
Meanwhile, The Okao said the defamatory publication has deeply injured his reputation and Reaffirms his position as the Okao of Unuame, duly recognised by the Benin Traditional Council and the State Government.
He asked the public to disregard the publications and directed those seeking clarification to contact the Benin Traditional Council or the Edo State Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs for verification
He pledged his unreserved loyalty to the revered Benin Monarch and was resolute in his stand against all forms of injustice, including land grabbing in Unuame community.
He assured the people of Unuamen and the wider public that legal actions are being considered to address the defamatory act.
