The Rivers State Police Command says it is investigating two explosions that rocked the city of Port Harcourt in the early hours of Saturday amid a local government election in the state.

The Command’s spokesperson, Grace Iringe-Koko, in a Statement the police acknowledged the explosion at the Rivers All Progressives Congress secretariat and another at Rumuodumaya, the council headquarters of Obio/Akpor.

According TO the police, the first explosion was reported at the APC Secretariat on Aba Road at approximately 3:00 AM by a security guard after a loud bang.

Iringe-Koko said upon investigation, it was gathered that three black Toyota Hilux vans sped away from the scene.

The Police Image maker said the explosion caused significant damage, destroying the gate and shattering the windows of the building.

Additionally, the security building was set ablaze.
