Polytechnic Education: Reps Quiz Adamawa, Borno, Others Over Extravagant Spending
The House Of Representatives’ Committee On Polytechnics And Other Higher Technical Institutions Has Bashed Federal Polytechnic Mubi, Adamawa State, Federal Polytechnic Monguno, Borno State And Federal Polytechnic Damaturu, Yobe State, Over Alleged Extravagant Spending And Flagrant Disregard For Federal Character In Their Employments.
At An Ongoing Investigative Hearing Conducted By The Committee Led By The Chairman, Honourable Kayode Laguda, The Committee Says It Has Discovered Various Infractions And Sharp Practices.
The Committee Lambasted One Of The Institutions’ Careless Spending Of The Internally Generated Revenue (IGR), According To The Records Presented To The Committee.
The Chairman Of The Committee Said In 2022, The Amount Appropriated To One Of The Institutions Was N57.9 Million, Out Of Which N28.9 Million Was Utilized, Remaining N28.9 Million. The Committee Demanded To Know What Happened To The Remaining Half.
The Investigative Hearing Was Part Of The Oversight Functions By The Committee On Federal Polytechnics And Other Higher Technical Institutions.
