President Bola Tinubu has declared a state of emergency in Rivers State with immediate effect.
The President made the declaration in a nationwide broadcast on the crisis in Rivers State.
With the declaration, the Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, his Deputy, and the legislators have been suspended for six months.
The President therefore nominated Vice Admiral Ibok Ete Ibas as Sole Administrator in Rivers State.
He said Rivers State has been at a standstill since the beginning of the crisis, with the people not being able to access the dividends of democracy.
President Tinubu noted that security reports show that there have been cases of vandalism, which the Governor has done nothing about.
