Some residents of Jemila Street, Ikpoba Hill, Benin City who spoke on the condition of anonymity said the windy rain pulled down the electric pole, throwing the entire area into darkness. They said most worrisome is that the fallen electric poles are still energized with current, thereby putting the lives of residents in danger.
According to Desmond Okhionkpamwonyi, the residents also appealed to the officials of the Benin Electricity Distribution Company, BEDC, to urgently come to their rescue by first disconnecting power from the fallen electric poles and thereafter restoring power to the area.
