Troops of the 6 Brigade, Nigerian Army, and Sector 3 Operation Whirl Stroke, OPWS, have neutralized a bandit and recovered a cache of arms following a raid on a criminal hideout in Angwan Bala, Kambari area of Karim Lamido Local Government Area, Taraba State.
According to a statement released by the Brigade on Monday, the operation, conducted on February 2, was based on credible intelligence regarding the movement of suspected bandits.
A thorough search of the camp led to the recovery of a significant arsenal, including four AK-47 rifles, five AK-47 magazines, eighty rounds of seven point sixty two millimetres special ammunition, an English-made pistol, two locally fabricated guns, twenty eight cutlasses, fourty eight daggers and jack knives, and sixteen motorcycles.
Preliminary investigations revealed that the bandits, originally from Plateau State, had paid a local chief in Amar village the sum of ₦1.5 million to establish their camp in the area.
Brigadier General Kingsley Chidiebere Uwa, urged the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to security agencies, emphasizing the importance of community cooperation in combating insecurity.
