Utesi Community, Off Benin-Bypass, Ikpoba-Okha Local Government Area, Edo State, has suspended, prohibited, and stopped all land based activities, sales, purchase, and land based collections and levies in the community.
A statement by the Odionwere, Pa. Aghayiangbon Akele, says the suspension and stoppage followed the illegal activities of unknown fraudsters and land grabbers, who stole various pre-dated land documents and want to take advantage of the recent indefinite suspension of the Enogie to perpetrate their illicit act.
The statement said all land approvals, property title documents, certificates, receipts, letter headed papers, stamps, and seal among others, which were being used before 15th March, 2025, have been banned, prohibited, and abolished to render such fake documents invalid and of no effect and protect the high strength of integrity of title documents duly obtained by genuine land owners and title holders in Utesi.
The above measures are in compliance with the Community’s desire for genuine property title documents, peace and progress of Utesi, and the private properties protection law of Edo State, other property laws in Nigeria, and the Oba of Benin’s proclamation.
The Odionwere, elders, and indigenes of Utesi community reassured the general public of maximum cooperation and advised against dealing with any unauthorized person or persons and exercise utmost caution on land dealings in Utesi Community henceforth.
